1957 Dual-Ghia Convertible

Offered here is this stunning 1957 Dual Ghia Convertible finished in Blue over Two-Tone Blue & White interior.

A true mid-century masterpiece, the Dual Ghia Convertible is one of the rarest and most coveted classic cars around. A marvellous collaboration between American design and Italian style, the Dual Ghia has been turning heads since its inception. A favourite of the rat pack, and any worthy celebrity, the records of these cars read like who's-who of old Hollywood: Ava Gardner, Richard Nixon, Frank Sinatra, Ronald Reagan, Dean Martin and many more. Noted Hollywood columnist Dorothy Kilgallen once put it beautifully: a Rolls Royce is the "status symbol for those who can't get a Ghia". Of the 117 originally produced, there are purported to be only 32 left in existence (as of 7/2006).

This is the one to own. Restored to a stunning quality by its meticulous owner, it is a rare opportunity to enter that short, coveted list. With a rumoured major celebrity previous owner, an upgraded powertrain, and one of the more elegant colour schemes, turn the key and this Ghia declares "you have arrived." Dressed in one of the most elegant bodies produced by the legendary Carrozzeria Ghia (adapted from one of the most famous designs by Virgil Exner, the Fireball), this particular example looks as good as the day she was strolling Sunset boulevard for the first time.

To provide the owner with the best of daily driving and enjoyment, the motor was upgraded to a mighty 500ci Chrysler RB Stoker with dual four barrel carbuterors. Paired with a smooth-as-silk Chrysler Torqueflite 3-speed transmission, newer Power Steering, a limited slip differnetial, and upgraded front disc brakes, you won't find yourself short of modern luxuries. The torque is immense and makes for effortless movement with plenty of power when necessary - you'll never have a hint of struggle when returning to your hilltop estate.

In recognition of its astounding quality, this car has been the recipient of many awards. Twice at the acclaimed Greystone Mansion Concours, twice at the Palos Verde Concours, and several other best in shows. It was also the Petersen Museum's choice feature at their opening in 1994, displayed for over 18 months.
